Personally, I wouldn't use such a service, but there are plenty of people who would. In West Yorkshire, you are close to Leeds and not so far from Harrogate. There's money there - the sort of people who would use a wedding planner.

It really comes down to contacts. Do you have them? Get a couple of good jobs under your belt and people will talk.

Hi,

I should be disqualified as I no longer live in the UK (though I did live fairly close to you in Filey, North Yorkshire) I am writing because I do have experience of the business as my sister runs a wedding planning service in America.

I appreciate you don't want to move to London (who would?) so you need to research the demand in your area. There are some sizeable towns in Yorkshire (Leeds, York, Halifax and so on) so there is room for a company to make money providing your service. First, check through the Yellow Pages, Thompsons, etc. to see if anyone else is already doing it, and where.

This can be good or bad. If no-one is providing the service then you have a wide open field, but it will also mean your potential customers are not using such companies (yet!) If there are half a dozen or more it could mean there will be too much competition to succeed. However it would mean there is an established customer base and you could succeed by offering a cheaper service, or providing more.

If there are established services find out what they charge for what service level. A bit unfair on them, but YOU want to succeed...don't have too many scruples.

Whatever you decide, good luck and don't move to London, you'd hate it after Yorkshire!

Good Luck,

BobSpain
