Some rental agencies do satellite track cars, but due to lawsuits most track only the very high dollar high end cars.

And they don't normally track the cars unless the car is reported stolen or missing. Much like the On Star system that GM has. They can see where you are, but really don't look unless you call and tell them you are lost, can't find your car, or it is stolen.

There have been some recent law suits filed for invasion of privacy in the USA against rental companies http://www.rense.com/general26/rentalcarsatellite.htm

Now in other countries ? here you go

No I am driving a car from Avis had it 2 months then one 2 months before this one. I return them for oil change every 2 months. I hammer the Hell out of those rental cars spin the tires a lot. They never said anything. When I merge into traffic I just put her to the floor. I had no idea these new motors would rev so high. If I drove my Dodge Ram like that it would not last 2 months

At work, we have stickers on the doors that say that the vehicles are being tracked. But to my knowledge, we don't track them. To have every vehicle in our fleet tracked at any given time would cost too much in man hours to have someone staff a computer, let alone the cost to install tracking hardware on every car every single year.

I think it is meant to be more of a deterrent.

If they have installed a tracking system they can, but I don't think they track them actively for no cause.

Why would you need to know that, got something planned?
