Well I can give you the list of places that I found cool. :p
1) Thekkady--the scenery is beautiful, and there is an elephant park, as I recall. I went there when I was 7 so my memory for details is a little spotty, but I'd highly recommend it.
2) Synagogue in Cochin--I believe one of the oldest synagogues, there's a lot of history in that building.
3) Guruvayoor Temple-- Built in the style of old Kerala architecture, this is one of the prettiest temples I've been to. The only downside is that only Hindus are allowed inside the temple (I have no idea why, only a few temples do this).
Hope this helps!

Do you mean it literally or figuratively. If you mean it literally the cool places in North Kerala are Wayanad and its surrounding areas, (kalpetta, sultans' battery etc), kuttiyadi, then in south of Kerala is the idukki, munnar and the high ranges near idukki.
Other beautiful places to see are Kovalam beach, Trivandrum, Thekkadi, the backwaters of Alleppy, ezhimalai, malampuzha, many varied beautiful beaches (muzhippilangad near Tellicherry), etc etc. Each place is lovely.
You can also refer to the tourism web site of kerala government

If you require specific information pl ask.

My parents are originally from Kerala but, I grew up in US. So, I have traveled to Kerala as a tourist.
Personally,I think Kovalam beach with its black sand & the 'back waters of Allepy' are worth giving a shot.
You can rent a 'house baoat' in Allepy which includes fresh cooked food on the boat itself .......this will give you an oppurtunity to taste authentic Kerala food (inc. seafood).

Go for a boat ride or for a nights stay in a boat house, which is available in Alleppey. For wildlife enthuasists, it is Thekkady. For hill tourism, it is Munnar in Idukki district with full of spices. Ponmudi in Trivandrum district is also a hill resort. Those who want to be in a resort near a beach, it is Poovar or Kovalam near Trivandrum. So it is for you to decide, as when you go to North Kerala, it is Wayanad district which is full of coffee estates etc.
