It seems like this has gotten soo old in US news. It started about a few years ago and I swear there is a new story every night. And it just seems that everybody is talking about "pedophiles" and "molesting little girls", and "child rapists", and "registering sex offenders" it has just gone crazy with this! I am tired of hearing about it!!
Does U.K. have thit trend in the news media? Do you have "sex offenders" needing to be registered and monitored , where everytime they get a job they have to tell their employer that they are a "sex offender" because they had sex with an underage girl or something? and siezing computers of "sex offenders" is reported constantly.
Also we have had a barrage of stories of "female sex offenders" like women teachers having sex with their 13 year old male students and many of them look pretty and sexy. That and the IRaq war is all we hear about, I noticed BBC talks about world events and stuff like that. Americans cant find any real news !

Yes, we have the same stuff. It is a strange phenomena that has travelled across the Atlantic. Britain is going backwards to fit into the American way. Americans have always led persecutions against one group or another due to continued isolationism and haven't changed since the Pilgrims first landed. It seems Analysing Working class groups and making fun of them is popular at the moment (Jerry Springer type shows) and it's acceptable to make fun of these groups.
But we also go over the top with sex offenders. If they could do it to Gay people or Farmers who have sex with animals they would. Anything to take the focus off the real problems of the world. It is a very handy tool to have for politicians to take the focus of them aswell. As American Fascism makes it's way across the Atlantic Britain will get worse and Victorian standards will return!

As a parent it is frightening and in my opinion I hate hearing about it but I want to know so I can be aware and that I can make my children be aware especially as you can have strangers impose your house via the internet nowadays.

There has been no significant increase in child abductions, child murders or child abuse since the 1950s. Hysterical doom-mongering press coverage has increased quite significantly however.
