Skype must be the best option at present because it works better that the Yahoo system. But either depend on you both having access to broadband. Residential broadband can be very weak in the Arab world, but Internet cafes often have the strongest signal available. To exploit that you friend needs a wireless enabled laptop. My son in Lebanon finds that his best connection is at Starbucks in Beirut, which has a broadband connection 4 times faster that he can get at home. Good luck

The best one right now from my experience is voipfibre. I have used voipdiscount, actionvoip, skype, but nothing provides per second billing and cheapest rates to india. Call for 30 secs and pay for only 30 secs. frikkn amazing. Go with this one

If PC to PC, skype is the best.
If Pc to Phone, use voipcheap. Its cheaper than Skype.
