Your OS is usually in C:/
In D: you may have applications/programs etc.
Have you backed up your system in D: and now
try to recover ? If space is low delete it
and again back up your system files
in any other drive (if available) or in a CD..
Backup files should be in a different directory
usually.

you cant. You are not supposed to use the recovery drive for this at all.
