If so, how difficult is it to get?

Richard F is correct, except that it's the Motorcycle Safety Foundation's course you need to find. They offer them at community colleges over the weekend usually for like 50 bucks or so. Then you go pass a test at the DMV and get a license to operate a motorcycle

Absolutely!! I lived in CA for 40+ years, rode m/c's most of my adult life and owned a mc shop.

If getting an endorsement worries you, take a class from the Motorcycle Safety Institute, if that's still the name. The course will prepare you for the DMV test.

The test is not as difficult as paying for the ticket if you don't have the endorsement.

Motorbike? Is that motorcycle or scooter?
If Motorcycle, yes, an endorsement IS needed.
You'll need to take both a written and driving test separate from a car test.
OR, if you take a certified state motorcycle course, you can forgo the driving test, and only need to take the written test.

Yes if you are going to ride it on the street. And there are 2 classes M1 (big bikes & small bikes) and M2 (scooters & small bikes only) I dont remember x-actly where the CC seperation is between them (I have the M1). You will have to take a written test (and for some reason they make you take the CAR test as well first.. even if you already have a car license) and then the driving test through a course . Or you can take a motorcycle safety course and forego the drive test.
