i have all my most memorable pictures there..... :(((((( can i reformat it without erasing everything?

do nor reformat it, install a file recovery software like restoration and pc inspector (both are free) on your hard disk and scan your flash disk, it will display all the files on your flash disk, try to recover them. Use both the programs if you are unable to recover them properly (when they recover the files try to open each file and confirm that they are intact)

I've used something called Proffesional Undelete.

When you delete a file you just remove the information which says where it is, to put if very simply. Unless the files have been overwritten since they will be still there.

Use Undelete to retrive all deleted files from the flash drive. Pretty simple to use.

download restoration (freeware) from here:
http://www.snapfiles.com/get/restoration.html

run it, point it to your flash disk, and off you go.
