How do you get into genuine and safe chat rooms for people to talk about their lives and travels and which are the best and safest?

I use a site called Lycos .
It's based around a ship theme has over 50+ rooms the more you chat you get promoted so you can do more on the chat. I have used it for 3 years now . It is a family chat site so it does have navigators patrolling the rooms to make sure all is ok . I think all chat sites can be unsafe but that is more down to the user then the site . Don't ever give personal details out etc.
On lycos they is sometimes people who are only on to cause trouble but I have found that on all sites I have used . All I do is put them on ignore and report them.
I have made some great friends through lycos in fact my best mate I actually met through getting to know her on there .
Lycos is world wide so you can speak to all people from different places . Well worth checking out .

I don't think they exist! I've tried the chat room thing several times at different intervals. I keep getting people who want to get hooked up. I just want to be a sort of "pen pal". I'm married happily and don't want any thing in that realm. Yet every time i go to a chat room I get propositioned! Sometimes it's funny and my wife and I get a good laugh, but sometimes it's just inappropriate, and scary. Good luck! I enjoy talking with those from other cultures but it is just too hard to weed through the weirdo's!

I don't think safe chat rooms exist. Unless you make your own MSN chat room with people who you have met and trust. Brandy I don't trust anyone on the Internet. Well almost.

try yahoo chat (free and there are many sites!!!)
