Big brother is not an indication of attitudes in Britain. The vast majority do not watch this - I have watched it once & it was so boring I switched off after five minutes! The viewing figures tell you that it's only a minority who watch it out of the entire population of Great Britain. Sadly, Channel 4 are scraping the bottom of naff, audience participation and cheap to run c**p programmes - Z rated 'celebrities' uneducated fur coat & no knickers slobs & a bunch of viewers satisfying their own needs to lust after a modern day version of 'what the butler saw'!! If you trade in c**p expect to get c**p results. The whole affair should be treated with the contempt it deserves & I for one resent having my country judged as being akin to attitudes in 'big brother' - it is not & it's not a political issue either. I don't watch Coronation St, Eastenders, Hollyoaks, Emmerdale, family & holiday swapping or 'Diana specials' - how others live is not entertainment - it's Nosy Parker stuff!

Apologies for missing out one word - 'Is' which did end in a ? with the decrease in good English grammar and the omission of many punctuation marks and the addition of 'shortening' it didn't occur to me that my question could be assessed as not a question. Since there were a number of people who wanted and did answer my 'non question' it must have been interpreted as intended - a ? Anyway, I will ensure that all my questions in future are clearly questions - one thing is certain they will not contravene the rules in any other way!

I'm not sure I agree BB is representative of a minority.

The most watched TV programmes are Eastenders and Coronation St.
The best selling newspapers are all gutter tabloids (at one point the Sun on its own was read by 1/5th of the population).

There is a wider problem re the dumbing down of British society

While I agree with everything that you say - it is how I live too - please may I give you a word of advice. You are now at risk of being reported for abuse because what you posted was not a Question, and that seems to be against Yahoo rules. Frankly it is not a bad rule, as it saves us from being overwhelmed by personal statements. It will not be me who reports you as I feel that your heart is in the right place - but those who disagree, or who feel that you have insulted their personal tastes, may take a different view. I wish you luck.
