"There's a passage I got memorized, seems appropriate for this situation:
Ezekiel 25:17.
"The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon you."

I am ashamed that I didn't stand up to my parents during my teens, when they were trying to bring me up in a christian sect I found abhorrent. Because I loved them, and felt obliged for all the sacrifices I knew they made for me, I lived a lie for years, allowing them to believe I shared their faith and would pursue a career in their church. When I finally couldn't take anymore, it was quite a bitter confrontation. If I had been honest earlier, I don't know how things would have worked out. They always said that if I turned away from the "Truth" they would disown me and never have anything to do with me again. At the time I believed they would. I guess I'll never know.

The things to feel ashamed about are the things we have felt ashamed about but still repeat.
We all need to try to learn from those times.
'Sorry' does not come amiss.either

I FELT GUILTY WHEN I COULD FINALLY TOLD MY FATHER WHAT WAS IN MY MIND.
HE USE TO MADE ME FEEL LIKE DIRT AND USE TO SAY *THERE WAS A REASON WHY GOD MADE WOMAN, AND IT WAS TO OBEY THEIR HUSBAND. YOU WILL NEVER AMOUNT TO ANYTHING OTHER THAN BE BARE FOOT AND PREGNANT*. I HATED HIM FOR COMMENTS LIKE THAT.
HE WAS CRUEL IN SO MANY LEVELS. BUT EVEN THOUGH HE WAS LIKE THAT I FELT GUILTY FOR SINKING TO HIS LEVEL EVEN THOUGH HE DESERVE EVERY WORD I TOLD HIM.
