Recently I asked the following question." I want to move to Israel. I am not Jewish but love Israel. I got 3 answers and question is still there.
When I framed the question the following way ," I am Irish and Catholic? can I get Israeli citizenship. got one response. and question was removed , I presume to avoid the obvious critisism of Israel,s racist policies.

To prettyman, You contradicted yourself by saying that israel is not racist and in the same breath listing a number of ethnic groups who can avail of citizenship if they change their religion. I believe that just about equates to "Racism.)

To bertt, you are obviously answering a question you did not fully read. I did not say I love Israel or that I am an American. Do you assume that everyone on here is blessed like you ???/.I would suggest some travelling on your part and it is not for you to decide whether or not this site is or is not appropriate for my question. It does after all have a "Politics and Government "section.

I always thought asking questions was the way to learn. You have only ever asked "ONE". I guess you know all the answers and dont feel the need to ask.

The Abuse Button IS used to stifle "comments" about ANYTHING. You want to make a comment, go to a chat room. You want to ask a legitimate question, because you want to know as much about a partucular subject as you can before coming to an opinion about it, that's what this service is for.

While I don't report questions which are just political statements in disguise, I will ignore them, which I believe a lot of people do, which could account for the poor answer ratio you have. People want to answer legitimate questions, not waste time with someone's amateurish attempts at sociology.

NOW, if you are serious about emigrating to Israel, you need to consider a lot of factors. You say you "love" the country, have you physically been there before? How often? If you HAVE been there before, you are already familiar with travel visas and such. If you plan on living the rest of your life in Israel, do you plan on giving up your US citizenship? And if you think you're too good to be an American, why should I waste time answering your question, traitor? I would treat this as seriously as someone saying he or she doesn't want to be Amish, they just want to live with no electricity, give up buttons and live in Amish counties. Would you also want to live in Saudi Arabia, but not convert to Islam? Or is this just some weak attempt to "expose" something as natural as xenophobic suspicion in the most persecuted band of people in history?

You see how deep this can go? You think it's amusin to post these little questions, a mindless way to pass time. But they don't hold up when examined. When really looked at, it's apparent this isnt a question from someone who legitimately wants an answer. Just more thinly disguised propaganda.

ok. First of all,as far as I know, under certain conditions (and I do not know them well,so You have to ask),non-jews can get Israeli citizenship.
Otherwise,I don't think it's racism to limit the right of citizenship only to Jews and to those people (Palestinians,Arabs,Christians) born in Israel. Israel,in it's origins, was idealized as the National Jewish Homeland.
Think of it as in the fact that each nation has a national homeland (Ireland for Irish,Britain for the Brits,Germany for the ethnical Germans or Italy for the Italians).

For many years in most European countries you couldn't be a citizen if You were abiding religiously by that country's national religion...

Israel does not have racist policies unlike all the Arab countries that will not let you even enter their country because of your religious beliefs.
anyone can live in Israel - obtaining citizenship is a different matter. You can become a foreign resident like in the US. You will have many benefits from this policy ie no taxation and your children or yourself will not have to serve in the army.
If you love Israel so much why do you spread lies of it being a racist country? Anyone black, indian , peruvian, chinese , aboriginal can become a Israeli citizen by converting to Judaisim there is no discrimination against anyone creed or color.

When the forum is open as it is, anyone can report abuse. You need to talk to the Israel consulate to answer your question , not this web site, where you will get opinions and not real answers all the time.
