Rulers and prophets from ancient times always looked to the stars for guidance. Early on, it was a way to chart the movement of time. One could see certain stars at one time of year and other stars at another. When tribes would go to war, it was based on the belief that it "was in the stars," meaning that the time was right because the stars and moon were in the right place to give them enough light to see their enemy at night. It became the basis for our modern day calendars. Later, rulers would have an astrologer on "staff" who would read the position of the stars to tell what would happen. In most cases, these answers would be vague or just what the ruler wanted to hear. If the astrologer was wrong too many times, the ruler would have him killed and replace him with another.
In modern times, people started to believe more in the power of telling the future by reading the stars. While it can be shown in science, most of the time answers are still vague and the person receiving the prediction must, in some cases, dig for the meanings in their own personal experiences. To test this theory, read your horoscope in the evening, rather than in the morning. See then, if you horoscope came true. It can be the power of suggestion in most cases and you will start to look for that meaning in everything you do. Your horoscope says you will meet a tall, dark stranger - well, if you work in retail or sales, you meet hundreds of new people every day in your line of work, chances are one of them will be tall and dark.
So, simple answer, Astrology is myth based on fact or fact based on myth...whichever you prefer.

Well Astrology is a fact and it is in the Bible. The Bible was written in three places, first in the stars of Heaven, Next it was written in the Great Pyramid in Egypt by Enoch, Then the written Bible with words first by Job then Moses to answer questions. The very first question mankind had was why do good men suffer. Job answered this for us.
Many people do not understand these facts, but in the beginning God's people knew how to read the stars correctly but when they lost this knowledge Satan toke this for his own. What is wrong with astrology is to try and read your future with this knowledge and the Bible forbids this.
I can say much more to prove all of this with Bible or knowledge but you have my e-mail is my name if you want more on this. Too much proof to try and say.

I know you're not actually a Christian, but I'll still answer why people believe that: Because instead of studying experts in Egyptian mythology, Greek mythology, Roman mythology, Persian Mithraism/Zoroastrianism, Roman Mithraism, Hinduism, and Buddhism, they believe people like Gerald Massey (who was a "self-taught Egyptologist"), Acharya S (whose only real accomplishment is a Bachelor's in Liberal Arts), Kersey Graves (whose writings are even disputed by educated atheists), and Earl Doherty (who depends on sources like Gerald Massey and Kersey Graves). Any person, regardless of religion, who has actually truly studied mythology from reliable sources, disputes the idea of Jesus having many similarities with ancient myths. And they also find, if they really look at it closely, that most of the so-called similarities (like Dionysus supposedly turning water into wine, or Attis being born of a virgin) POST-date Christianity. My sources? See below.

Valid and accepted practice. If done correctly by a skilled astrologer it can be very revealing about one's personal life and the choices you have made/will make in the future.
Then again... it is all dependent on the person. If you don't want to believe , then nothing I am going to say will change your mind.

I think that everything in the universe, or all universes, was created to teach us something, if we are willing to learn it. It only becomes a 'problem' when the believer thinks it is the 'only' way. All belief has to start somewhere, some start from different places, but all will eventually arrive at the same 'end'.

Astrology is fairly sound. Horscopes are crap, and 99% of what you hear about astrology is also crap. Once you're back to the basics of it, though, pretty decent.

Its real. its a science of the alignment of the stars and planets at the time and location of ones birth compared to wher they are any time after that and how it effects us. Its really very accurate as far as ive seen, so I do beleive in it.
