It depends upon what you mean by the term "in public". I go to the nude beach near my home on Long Island which is a public beach, visited by thousands of people every day in the summer. Most of us are naked and those who aren't are fully OK with nudity, otherwise they wouldn't be at that beach. (Except for the pervs, of course, who you get anywhere there's bare skin to be seen...their problem, not ours).

I'm confortable being naked whether in public or private, alone or with others, and I really like the feeling of being naked outside in appropriate places (beach, friend's pool, hot tub, etc.) on a warm sunny day. Being seen by others when I'm naked doesn't bother me (hey, it's only skin, and we all have it!).

However, as much as I love being naked, and would like to see our society lighten up about simple, non-sexual nudity, I realize that there are places where nudity is simply inappropriate. Common sense is all that matters to know the difference.

The fact that you're asking this question is a good sign that you're questioning your feelings and open to the suggestions and/or comments of others. Unfortunately, many societies still maintain the belief that nudity is always equated with sexuality, and therefore something that should be hidden from public view. That's simply not so.

Nudity is usually sensual (since our skin is the largest of our sense organs) but it frequently isn't sexual, and people need to learn and then experience the difference.

Thanks for asking this question and raising the issue.

Bare hugs...

I think our society would be healthier if we weren't worried about nudity, what to show and how much.

I'm all in favour of it. The human (particularly the female) form is a beautiful thing.

If you've got it, flaunt it.
