Most cars since the mid 90's introduced fuel injection allowing the owner to not have to warm up the car. Its still a good idea to let it warm up at least a minute ot two to allow the oil and fluids to warm up and flow easier. Its -16C this morning..I'm letting my 2005 Impala warm up just a little.

Almost all new cars are fuel injected, meaning that they have a ECU encine control unit (computer) that controls the engine operations. This unit takes information such as air temputure when managing the operation or the engine.
One does not need to warm up a new car as one did with an older car. But it is a good idea to let the engine run a few minutes before putting the vehicle in gear.

Thats not true, all cars new and old need to be warmed up before they operate at their best effiecency. Never rev up a cold engine, this is bad for the lifters and wear on the cylinder walls. Let your car warm up for 10-15 minutes before running it.

Ok and the question is? I have a 2006 and it is cold when I start it. It usually revs a little high then after about 30 seconds or so it slows down. But I am in Florida. If I was in one of those really cold states like Texas it would probably be a little longer.

people do say that....BUT i always warm up my car even in the summer when i first start it in the morning.
if you let your car warm up in the morning it is easier to see where your going as your breathing in the car will frost the windshield when your car is cold,,not to mention it's not safe to drive looking through a tiny opening at the bottom of your windshield while you wait for your heater to defrost the windshield..
Let your car warm up that solves that vision problem

You don't have to, but I would take it easy for the first couple of miles...
Actually you don't HAVE to change the oil either now that I think about it, but that wouldn't be a good idea either.
