Why should they.... does your vote really count? Just because the state may vote one way doesn't mean the representatives in the house for that state have to vote the same way as the state.
Is this a Democracy, or just a fancied up Dictatorship? You have freedom of speech.... unless you say something that isn't liked or taken kindly.
You have the right to "Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness, now is that really true or does it just sound good?
There is three reasons for you of why people don't join politics... Politics and politicians are frauds, promise one thing do another... some people look at "leaders" and get the false impression that this "leader" must know everything or whats best for everyone, otherwise they wouldn't be a "leader".
Rather dumb don't you think... people weren't smart enough to allow God to govern them... but we can pick out some "C" average student to guide an entire nation...

Politics are something we do everyday. But high politics, Its usually a big dog fight between two oppositions, that usually quickly escalates to a huge heated argument where people cross the line, hurt feelings, and lose many people on a good cause.
I Keep my political views quite usually, I really dont like to argue, but i do see my self coming to the defense of people often in these conversations.
Keep in mind that the people who have the most say in these matters, already answer to someone. So the points of personal interests, poverty, separation of church and state, regional maintenance are issues that have been dealt before. and they do have there plans and will likely continue to stick to them. changes take alot of time, energy, and often money. lots of people know this, accept it and go on.

people don't join politics because,
if every one become a popet player then ther won't be any audience , see it that is what people are doing , they know what is wrong & right , but they should be guided properly. which is getting exploited , by politics ,
in one sentence , politics is the door way to terrorism .which is happening in todays politicts

Running for public office is risky, whether you have something scandalous in your past or not. It doesn't seem to matter, whether there's something there or not, people, out of hate and fear, will make crap up about you, if they can't find anything bad but true to say.
Every bit of your private life is gone, every bit of your spouse's and kid's privacy is gone too, we have so many nutcases with guns you will never have privacy again, NEVER, not even when youre not in office anymore.
Spending all day everyday, making decisions 40% of the public is going to HATE, no matter what that decision is? Working under tremendous pressure, pressure from the public to make their lives better, while having to bow and scrape to soulless corporations for the money (for reelections) to keep TRYING to do good for the public.
Living behind bulletproof glass for the rest of your life, every detail of your daily schedule gone over obsessively by those who protect your life as well as those who want you dead, because of your party affiliation?
And this doesn't even include the scandals which occur when incompetent leaders hire their buddies to run the government for them.
Witch hunt investigations (41 in Clinton's adminstration , ZERO findings of guilt; ZERO investigations into Bush's shady practices, there's your "Fair and Balanced" Conservative party- This president wont even testify under oath about the attacks on the WTC and the Pentagon, nor go after the man who admitted responsibility for those attacks), threats of impeachment, lame duck presidencies, hostile Congresses, not to mention the morons in Yahoo Answers who ask completely retarded questions, such as, "If you knew Barack Osama Bin Hussein was a card carrying Muslim extremist when he was 10 years old, would you hate him less or more?"
All this for a $100,000 a year? Not sure its worth it. Is there any wondering why the best and brightest in this country want nothing to DO with Public Government Service? Because the smartest and most able among us want nothing to do with political life, what we end up with is the ventriloquist's doll we have in Office now. If youre wondering who is actually the voice, look behind our Presidoll and you'll see Big OIl's greasy hand up his backside.
When we ARE faced with a true American candidate such as John McCain or John Kerry, genuiine war heros who have proved IN BATTLE their love for this country, what do we do? Ridicule them, question their heroism, etc, but I find it odd no one says anything about our current President's desertion from the Military in a Time of War.
What sane perosn would want to subject him- or herself to that kind of torture for so little reward? Oh yeah, Lobbyists.... ok the moneys good, but I still wouldnt sell my soul to Big Oil or Big Drugs for money.

Because now, the politicians are not able to mint money freely as they used to do in the past, thanks to rising awareness in the general public largely due to our over-enthusiastic by rightful media.
