This is actually a false story. While it's a very interesting story, the bald eagle on the Presidential Seal has ALWAYS faced the peach branch. This is to symbolize (I believe) that while we may sometimes go to war, the U.S. always hopes for peace.

Urban legend, but it sounds so plausible.....
Just like the myth about statues and whether the rider's horse has its hooves on the ground or in the air to symbolize dying in battle.
People with WAY too much free time on their hands make this stuff up.

it is possible that the president does not feel the need to change the seal to a war seal
