No answer to this, too many variables. do you have natural gas?do you have propane? is your elect. municipal supplied? Are you on an elect co-op? Is your home one level, two, or three?

Off the top of my head, Wood is prob. best, but even with wood you need a back up.

Pellet stove. I have one and my home has never been hotter in the cold weather. When stove is on the entire first floor is like 70 degrees. Cost of pellets is like $250.00 per ton. A ton is enough to heat for the entire winter.

We use wood. Warms you once when you cut and split it, twice when you burn it! lol
