I have just been watching Englebert Humperdink (hope I spelled it right) on Sunday morning and he sang 'Love is a Many Splendid Thing'.

Does anyone know who else recorded it?

The Four Aces went to No 2 with it in 1955. That's the only time it's appeared in the UK chart. It's "Love Is A Many Splendoured Thing", btw.

The correct title is "Love is a Many Splendored Thing". Henry Mancini, Matt Monro and Ray Conniff all did it, and many others. It's an easy listening standard. Here is a comprehensive list:

not "splendid" but "splendoured". It is a bloody awful song. I was asked once to sing it for a wedding but I was too mortified to do it, when I saw the music. I didn't think I could stand and sing that in front of people without hideous embarrassment. In any case it was set too low for my voice and I was able to persuade the couple to choose something better.

In the film the song is sung by a group of singers not by an individual. You'll probably find it has been covered by many people over the years.

Mario Lanza sang it also, It's a very old song, I don't think it would stand a chance in the charts these days, Oh well----

Think Johnny Mathis may have. It was also on the soundtrack to Circle of Friends.
