Generally, any email over 10Mb is excessive.
Most email servers won't allow you to relay anything over this amount and the email server of the person you are sending it to most likely won't allow them to receive it.
If you are using a broadband / dsl connection, then you'll find that anything over 3 Mb will start taking a long time to send and receive.
You need to use an image editing package, such as IrfanView to edit the size, resolution and quality of the image.
You should save the image in JPEG format. This file format is specifically designed for sending images over the Internet. You can also change the resolution, dimensions and quality settings in order to reduce the file size.
JPEG image format is very versatile in this respect - you can reduce the quality of the image ever so slightly and it will have a huge reduction on the image file size.
JPEG measures this in a quality percentage.
100% quality setting has no change in quality. Set it to about 70%, anything between 70% - 100% is generally not noticeable to the human eye.
If you set the image quality to anything below 70% you will start to see noticeable image degradation.

I'd say, zip/rar them, and upload them to some of the filesharing sites (i.e. http://www.rapidshare.com, http://www.megaupload.com, http://www.filecargo.com, etc.) from which after, you'll get a link that will allow you to share this with the person you want to send the pictures too. The user will then simply go to that link and download the files from there.
Rapidshare will also allow you to "kill" or delete the file after it has been downloaded (aside from the link to download, it will also give you a link to "kill" the file).
You may also want to upload the pictures in a image sharing sites like Photobucket, where the user can simply view and save the images from them (I'm just not sure of the maximum size of an image allowed in photobucket, so the filesharing option is still better).

2.5 MB for one pic is too big a size....Can you check the format of the pic by right clicking on the pic and clicking on properties....If the pic is a .bmp file then you are very lucky because this pic can be made really small by opening it in any graphic viewer like PAINT and changing its format to .jpg....by clicking on FILE and then Save As....The pics will reduce insize by many times without loosing quality....You cant tell the difference if you opened the .jpg file in the same Graphic program...This should help...Thanks.

Most email clients have a limit of 10MB sent PER email, so you can send many photos but you may have to do it in a few separate emails. My account has a limit of 10MB. As you upload (attach, I mean) the photos, there is an indicator of how much space you have left.
