you should make sure the item u want to varnish is dust-free & dry, theres a way to heat up the varnish before u start, leave the bottle in hot water for 10mins, then apply, the varnish will be abit thinner & will contain less bubbles, u can also use a toarch about 10inches away from the item after u varnish it , this will remove any bubbles n'if nothing works, just pop it!

you got three good answers ahead of me...DO NOT EVER shake varnish, that is what likely caused the bubbles in the first place. so start with a new can, and varnish stirred, not shaken (don't want to bruise the gin, 007), apply in small areas and brush over when finished the final brush over will remove any bubbles that may develop in the application process. that should do it.

Don't shake, stir varnish, paint brush need to be thin, not a half inch thick. work the varnish into the brush with spare peace of wood and really allow varnish to soak into brush. wipe off excess and start in middle of object not the edge.

Good Luck

Be sure the varnish is mixed well and make small strokes on what ever you are painting. Sometime the brush holds air in the bristles so make sure your brush is full of the mixture by dipping several times. I hope this helps.
