As a woman who has had breast cancer, I have read up a lot about the disease.I can tell you that wearing bras has nothing to do with cancer, it's the genetic make up of a person that determines cancer, not the wearing of bras. EDIT> Photo Nurse, you are an insult to me and other breast cancer patients. There is also no link or evidence about aluminum in ant-perspirants to cause cancer.Believe me, when I was diagnosed with B/C I asked many questions.I am a member of a few B/C forums where this sort of hysteria comes around now and then. If any of you have real worries about B/C, please don't hesitate to ask a true professional. Anyone could claim to be an expert on here, and to accept their advice is very dangerous indeed.

In my opinion, I really don't know, but I can guess?
Women started to wear bras to protect them from working in a dangerous work place.
To protect so if they are nursing their babies the "milk bar" will be kept clean and ready.
Bras help absorb sweat so your skin is more comfortable.
If you read about the history of advertisement the bra was not on TV years ago it was mainly seen only in store catalogs. I can remember as a young child sitting there on the sofa turning the pages with such curiosity pointing and laughing at these contraptions that looked like battle fatigues with straps and they were mainly the color "peach"....I'll never know why they used that color...times have changed compared to now....
Bras are here to stay and are seen everywhere...when you least expect seeing them. Nothing is hidden now days everything is shown nothing left to your imagination.
Bras are available to all ages of girls, when I was a preteen in the 50's all I knew is that I wanted to be "like the rest of the girls".
Main reason for wearing one LOL

To give them an uplifting support.
It's primary for giving them more self esteem by altering their image, since that there are other more supportive ways to support their breasts.
