They've been around for decades, and if they were no good for our bodies,
1. they never would have been invented

I had a friend back in the 1980s who died as a result of Toxic Shock Syndrome aged 17. This was as a result of tampon use, but the particular brand of scented tampons was taken off the market a short while later though no direct connection was made at the time and no litigation as far as I know. The sale of tampons slumped dramatically in the small town where I grew up.
Used correctly though tampons are safe enough; but avoid scented brands at all cost as they can cause irritation and inflammation. Better safe than sorry. My friend was an intelligent girl and was very unlucky indeed; personally I never use tampons now unless I am going swimming.

Tampons do have a small chance of TSS (toxic shock syndrome) which can be harmful and fatal in most cases but if you follow the guidlines on the box and not have it in for more then 4-6 hours they are safe some ppl have a reaction most people dont just be sure to read the packet before using just to be safe

Tampons are pretty safe just as long as you are not over using them or using super tampons when you are not bleeding heavy. If you do then you'll run the risk of toxic shock syndrome which can cause death.

as long as you follow the guidelines you should be safe, on rare occaisions women do have a reaction to them.toxic shock syndrome. this is cause by bacterium staphylococcus which is located in your vagina.. it occurs up to twice a year in the uk and is more likely to happen to teenage girla and women but it easily treated. it is advised to use at least one pad in place of a tampon each day of your period to reduce the risk.

As long as you don't use them for longer than it says on the packet, they're fine. The risk of Toxic Shock Syndrome is very small if they're used correctly.
