No I don't think its a new record. A house 3 blocks from mine have had the outside Christmas lights left up for the last 4 maybe 5 years, looks like they are their to stay or until they blow. They only turn them on around Christmas, guess they just cant be bothered to take them down.

Man that gets to me too. It is not a record. A former neighbor of mine put his Chritmas lights up over his Halloween lights and left them there for over a year. He was digging through his storage building the next fall, I asked "what's up Frank" he says 'I'm looking for my Halloween lights I bought last year. I played stupid and said nothing. My wife and I watched him for over an hour until his wife came outside and pointed to the house and they both just laughed a little. My wife and I went to the other side of the house and just about died laughing. I saw him a day or so later and he shared the big joke with me and I had to hold it in. I just lightly chuckled and said what about the Christmas lights. He said I'll just leave them up and plug them up instead of the Halloween and take them both down after Christmas. That was around May.

Mine are down but still have to be packed up and stored away in the attic. No that is not a record. There is a house in my town that just never takes their lights down or turns them off.

Ok, get this! There is a house down the block from me that still has their Christmas lights on! They usually keep them going until the end of January! UGH!

I always take mine down the first or second week of January. My kids wanted to keep them up as long as possible. So I start talking about it about January 3rd.

I once kept red garland around the poles in front of the house for about 8 months. It eventually washed out to silver. That's a record.

I saw a house this morning that still had lights strung across the guttering.
Dunno if they still switch them on at night or whether they just can't be bothered to put them up and take them down each year.
Lazy!
