My concerns are thus: Bush admits that mistakes have been made concerning the war, but his answer is to send more troops? Seems like a band-aid for a bullet wound.
We got rid of Saddam, dismantled his murderous government, & helped Iraq to start a new government. Why are our troops still there? Are we really fighting terrorism? No! This is not just an opinion here. By Bushs own admission our troops are there to stop SECTARIAN violence between Iraqis. Study your history of the region, these people have been fighting ever since they could. Honestly, is there anything we can do to stop them from doing what theyve been taught raised & socialized to do from birth? Iraq war is protecting US? The facts say diff. 5+ yrs after 9/11 & we're vulnerable now as we were then. Less than 10% of bags are checked at airports & less than 5% of incoming cargo containers into US ports are checked. Money better spent ACTUALLY securing US instead of war that creates more terrorists & enemies.

Not one.

Not in 2003, not in 2007, not in 10 years.

The sectarian violence has flared in Iraq due to the presence and actions of third parties, not the people that have lived peacefully next to each other for 25 years.

Many families are inter married.

The third party presence is a direct result of Our invasion of the country, failure to secure the borders, and calling out the world crazies with "Bring em on!".

As long as our troops are in Iraq, they will be targeted by both the insurgents (would be me if I had been born in Iraq), and the third party players like Al Qaeda and the foreign Jihadists. In addition, we will be directly involved with the civil war on the side of the majority.

Every US death in Iraq is preventable. Every day we prolong our military occupation of this country another crime.

The only hope for peace in an occupied country is for the occupying force to vacate.

Violence may surge in the short run, but people do not want war, leaders want war.

Our troops are still there even though the shopping list of reasons for the war is completed because our stated goals were not the actual goals for the mission.

A stable and democratic Iraq would act in it's own best interest, which would be at odds with US oil corporate interests.

A free and peaceful Iraq would never allow the construction and opening of many permanent US military bases in their country.

An Iraqi government with a heavy influence by the local and world Muslim religious leaders would not allow the the supply of their oil to the soon to be reopened pipeline from Iraq to Israel.

Iraq was designed to be what it is. Bush knows it and will not withdraw. The only way for us to maintain control over the Iraqi oil resources is for the security situation on the ground to prevent self governance by the Iraqis.

The real question is:

Israeli oil worth American lives

Look at it this way, Israel is a friend of the USA. If it were not for the USA in Iraq, USA dealing with Palestinians, USA dealing with terrorism, USA dealing with Arabs just how long do you think Israel would exist? " Is Iraq worth American lives?" you ask, the answer is " is Iraq worth Jewish lives? When you start to look at the situation in this light then the complexion of this war changes drastically. It has always been over Israel and the thought that they are simply there for the oil is just a pawn to hide the fact that they are really there just for the Jews. Now is that wrong? The Jews do deserve to exist and for the Arabs to want to completely annihilate them is not the way to go either. So the world has to figure out a way of living peacefully together. Hitler and some of the German people didn't like the Jews either but we see how disturbing their way of getting rid of them was and that surely was not right. The answer must be that both sides need to change so that they can co-exist with one another on this planet. I think Star Trek has the same problem with the Federation attempting to make peace between the differing space neighbors who seem bound. bent and determined to kill one another off. The Bush administration feels that they can end it with more troops but until the attempt really sets back the enemies of Israel I don't think the USA will be going too far away. Even if they do it will be only to the Persian Gulf or somewhere else where they sit in big destroyers and aircraft carriers with all guns pointed at Iraq, Iran and whoever else Bush thinks will, " bring it on ".

First, Israel offered to go to combat with us in Iraq and Afghanistan. We use their intelligence from the Mossad. It is much more through. The United States declined the offer because the Bush's and Congress felt it would cause attacks on Israel from Iran and Syria and the P.L.O. Where do you think all the terrorist attacks are launched from. Better to fight it now than to have it on our streets daily. Israel is the only democracy there. They even have a Muslim Justice on their Supreme Court. They allow freedom of Religion. They allow freedoms that the Islamic countries around them do not. When was the last time the Israeli's stoned a woman.

I'm not so sure that getting these people together is as hard as you say.

I met with a gentleman, this morning, who is Shiite, married to a Sunni and his father in law is Sunni. They actually have a contracting business together.

There is hope, here. The sectarian violence is being perpetrated by Militias and Al-Qaida. THAT'S what we can affect. Are we fighting terrorism, you bet!

Until you have been here, you can't make the comments. Make sure you study YOUR history. Prior to Saddam, these people DID get along and work together.

As far as Iraq creating more terrorists, they've been out there all along. They just needed an excuse. It would happen one way or another.

Radical Islam is the scourge of the Earth.

I agree with some things you have pointed out, but all an all we have to watch our backs right now, however to put more troops in is ridiculous. We need to pull out and get ready to protect ourselves against the internal warfare we will have here soon if this crap does not stop. The over spending the taxing bodies and their enormous levies on the average person, no hike in minimum wage? The influx of illegals who will because we have a tyrant devious dictator in office will arm these illegals against us and I do believe he is training Mexicans to handle us? They will have no choice, they are given a gun and food and money and orders for their so -called freedom they are offered housing here and everything, and it is better than their alternative since their country is already at war in some areas as well. Southern Mexico is having revolution now. Fascism just like Mussolini. Red Dawn not far off?

Well put. Being able to rationalize the situation through deductive reasoning is skill many folks lack here on YA! When you pay attention to the purposeful keywords these politicians use to define their own self contrived absolutes and translate them into reality you tend to find that they are nothing more than calculated "talking-points" that they pass along to their spinsters in hopes of making us walk lock-step with their initiatives.

Sectarians--I don't see them as terrorists, I see them as Patriotic Iraqi's fighting an illegal occupation.

Iran--is not our No. 1 enemy, they our the Iraqi's No. 1 Allie. Look at the ridiculous bias in this recently posted article.

If the Kurds are our allie, and they make up one third of the Country, then why are they not involved and continually shut-out of their own body politic? Condie is an absolute failure as a Diplomat, and even if she were useful, any ground she could hope to gain would be dismissed by her bosses as their interests over there are only concerned with "Greed for Oil" Period. Nation building is a convenient positiive falsehood sold as propaganda in order to deceive us as to the true Corporate Fascist Globalist wants and needs.

Good question.

As a 110% paleocon, my answer is hell no. Iraq is not worth one broken toe of my fellow American. Let alone his/her life.
You do seem to miss the fact that the REAL problem stems more from the fact that Our ground campaign is too big and the air campgaign too small. A buddy of mine from work informed me that as per the UN rules of engagement, he isn't allowed to load his damned rifle until he's getting fired at. Bush ain't the problem. The simple fact that we are involved in the Un is the problem.
