If you want a psychological and philosophical approach -because, answers to your question there are none- you could read Carl Gustav Yung's books about "universal inheritance" and "collective memory".
Yung did a lot of work about the "eternal soul" because he believes it can be the origin of many psychoses. He also believed in metempsychosis, but it's your choice to follow him -and many others- in that field.
That's for eternal truth. Adventures ? That's up to you, do you feel adventurous ?

Be yourself and be different. Experience different situations, stunts or things. gain experience in young life and use them in your adult or elderly life. Ur challenge is not to give up. and try to stay away from evil and sin. Being an naughty boy/girl takes a situation but becoming a good man/lady takes a life time to spare.

Strange you should ask this question. I'm working on a 'Labyrinth' site where we discover the answers to these questions as we venture through.
It's not yet finished, but you can take a peek if you like.
(It's not a commercial site)

Cheers, Pete
