If you are using Windows XP, than this must have come perinstalled with the laptop. Never remove hotfixes, it should be there. Try to figure out other programs.

hotfixes are repairs dowloaded to your computer from the Windows Update website. Among other things they help fix glitches in the operating system and also help protect your computer from other issues, such as lock ups and offer repairs for some programs that needed tweeking. DO NOT DELETE THEM.

DO NOT DELETE THEM! These are fixes (updates) that your computer has downloaded from Windows. They are not harmful at all. If you don't want to see them there then in the add/remove programs window just uncheck the "show updates" box and they will be gone.

you should format if its been a year or more since you installed windows xp
Many computer experts recommend a hard drive reformat at least once a year. Reformatting the hard drive cleans out the Windows registry and removes any problem causing files.

Reformat the hard drive to return your computer to its original configuration. Reinstalling Windows and other applications after a hard drive reformat may repair previously unfixable problems.

Delete these kb things will cause system security and sability issues, make your computer more open to hackers and if they came preinstalled on the laptop removal may void the service warrenty. If you currently have one that is.
