I'm noticing a soapy taste in foods cooked in a teflon pot but I'm not sure if it's coming from the pot itself or from the rubber spatula I use to stir food in the pot. (Or maybe it's both.) What's the best way to get rid of that soapy taste? Thanks for your help.

Let your pots and spatulas (or anything else you sense is not getting rinsed enough) in a sink full of hot bleach water overnight. (Just a few cap fulls of bleach will do) If you're worried about drying out the teflon too much, then after you rinse and dry your pans after you have taken them out of the bleach water, then lightly coat the bottom of the pans with vegitable oil (or other oil) and then wipe off with a paper towel. That will revive your teflon.

Teflon pans are nasty.

However, gently washing them with a little vinegar or lemon juice should remove any soap residue.

Buy decent iron pans, and steel utensils.

You can easily make a non stick surface on an iron pan by putting some oil in it and heating it until it starts to smoke, then leaving it to cool
