White Trash - understand the new racist target by the media?

Characteristics associated with the "white trash" stereotype would include being workshy, indolent and largely benefit dependent, with little ambition or drive for self improvement or education"
This is a description I have found on Yahoo Answers of 'White Trash'. Is this acceptable? Is it true? If so, is it valid to use this tag for so called 'underclass white people'. Many of the people who live in my area could possibly meet this criteria. A deprived former industrial area, Government grants and aid seem to pass us by. It is true many are on benefit, working 'on the sly' is strife; a 'get what you can' culture'. Drugs and alcohol are a curse but most are honest, good people brought up on solid values. Their fathers and mothers, grandparents have seen real hardship, stories of the last war and what people had to do to get through; the British Spirit! No ethnic group are beyond criticism, but seeking answers instead of chastising is the answer. Beware of white middle class racism!

I define "White trash" as people who are a blight on society. Men who drink too much and beat their wives. Women who leave their kids at home to go out and get drunk. etc...

And, well they have to be white.

I'm white and I use the term now and then. I don't think it's racist.

‘Black Trash’ a new term out of the Equality Act of 2089

1. They're black (that's kind of a given)
2. The cops, checking for drugs & fire arms, are NEVERr in and out of their place because of fear the locals will turn nasty and a riot will break out. Concluding in the police being prosecuted for racism and disciplinary action by their superiors.
3. There's more crack pipes, stashed gear in their off the road tank
4. At least 5 Pit Bulls openly walking round the front garden, if it gets out a bites someone,…. so???
5. There's a couch on the front porch, covered in broken down bacca , openly rolling their next joint in full view of all as they know they ‘untouchable’
6. You can hear their hard beats music, paraphrasing 50cent en all till 6 am , making it with their hoe's; ready to get up first thing next afternoon to collect their ‘taxes’
7. If you dare to look their direction for more than a second, they point an imaginary gun at you, with the words ‘I’s see u later” in their pseudo Jamaican accent (even though none have actually been to the island)
8. All members have no jobs, but never claim benefits cos they live off ‘fresshh air’
9. They blame their wretched existances on the Establishment – the one that protects their rights at the expense of others.
10. They've lost track of who fathered which child and which was shot dead

i'm a million/2 Italian, a million/2 English and that i hit upon the term 'white trash' relatively offensive. i wouldn't in any respect call a black guy or woman 'black trash' or a chinese language guy or woman 'chinese language trash' so i do no longer assume to be observed as a racial slur in return. Honky is in basic terms as undesirable and that i've got began listening to it relatively lots on the television tube at the instant. what's with all the concentration on epidermis colour? Why can no longer human beings in basic terms see previous it? there is lots greater to a guy or woman than their epidermis colour so provide up labelling and judging human beings and quickly assuming you recognize what somebody is like using fact of their epidermis colour. each and every black guy or woman isn't from the ghetto and a criminal. each and every Asian guy or woman isn't maths-mad. each and every white guy or woman does not stay in the two a suburban area or in a trailer.

As a cracker living in the south and surrounded by so called "white trash", I guess you have to know it to recognize it... if they were honest, good people I'd not be calling them white trash.
So, here's Jadalina's signs that you might be living next door to white trash.
1. They're white (that's kind of a given)
2. The cops are in and out of their place at least twice a week on domestic disturbance calls
3. There's more beer cans in their vehicle than at the local 7-11
4. At least 1 Pit Bull chained up outside, surrounded by feces that are never picked up
5. There's a couch on the front porch, also covered with beer cans
6. You can hear their drunken, curse filled fights at 2 am even with your doors closed and stereo turned on. Every night.
7. If you dare to look their direction for more than a second, they scream "WHAT THE F*** YOU LOOKIN AT?!". This is sometimes followed by a wave that does not include all 5 fingers.
8. All members have jobs of some form, but never stay at one place for very long due to being fired for things like attitude, not showing up, or showing up drunk/stoned
9. They blame their wretched existances on other races, usually blacks.
10. They've lost track of who fathered which child currently playing in the front yard wearing only a filthy diaper even though it's 40F outside.

Trash is a horrible word to use for any race, colour or class. Trash means rubbish and no person should ever be classed as rubbish. Admitted there are people that could help themselves to get out of the rutt they are in - call them lazy whatever but not trash. It seems acceptable to use the term white trash - can you imagine the uproar if we used the term 'Black trash' or 'Paki trash'. The term should not be used EVER if racism is to be eliminated in this country xxx

Isn't it funny how the bullies can transform themselves into victims over night?...

If you consider the roles of majorities and minorities in society, we might have a clearer understanding of the nature and methodology behind discrimination.

Of course 'white trash' is racist, but white people are the overwhelming majority in this country and are far from powerless to support and defend each other...it is much more difficult for minorities who suffer everyday this kind of stereotyping.
