I get the feeling it is supposed to be aggressive and intimidating - and rugby is a physical game and would benefit from an intimidation routine!

Rugby is more like a war than anything....so they have to show their strenght and unity while doing Haka,,,cricket is much softer of a game than rugby...in their rugby team they have more players of somoan origin....so it is their thing ,,,it shows unity though..

You could ask the same about any NZ national sports team or individual. Its just become something of a tradition in rugby.. its not a specifically NZ thing, more a Maori thing.
