How to get wireless internet in a non-wireless house?

I live with my brother who has internet but its hooked up directly to his computer, not wirelessly. I want to use the internet on my laptop in my bedroom but can't because the only way I could get on the internet here is if I hooked up directly to the wall. How can I get wireless internet access? What should I do?

and how much is it going to cost me to do whatever i need to do? thanks

First of all, your laptop has to be wireless internet enabled. Most laptops sold after around 2005 are but if you're not sure, see below.
