Its just a typical racial slur .They generalize everybody that looks Indian or Pakistani or Bangladeshis or from the area of the Indian sub continent or from that area of the planet put them all into the same catagory and call them all the same rude names. Its also fuelled by ignorance and by the un educated masses they really dont know the difference and from the outside all they see is a similar looking people that are different from themsevles. It was never right to be like this and today it is unacceptable. They must be in fear for their way of life.

The derogatory term "Paki" is used by white Britons to describe most south Asians. I don't know why it became the main term - perhaps because Pakistan was a source of many, but by no means all, of the immigrants, and "Paki" was the only well-known slang word for anyone from that area.

Pakistan does have SOMETHING to do with India as it used to be PART of India (Bangladesh, too).

HISTORY LESSON
--------------------------
Partition of India, whereby Muslim-majority areas in the east and west of the Indian subcontinent were constituted into a separate country, Pakistan. The Western zone was popularly (and for a period of time, also officially) termed West Pakistan and the Eastern zone (modern-day Bangladesh) was initially termed East Bengal and later, East Pakistan. The two zones were separated by several thousand miles of Indian territory. They were also very different from each other culturally, whether in language, the arts, music, cuisine or clothing. It was widely perceived that the west zone dominated the country, leading to the effective marginalization of the east zone. East Pakistan, renamed the People's Republic of Bangladesh, became independent following the Bangladesh Liberation War of 1971.

Most Brits don't call Asians Pakis. Most Brits know that most of those living in UK of Asian descent were born in UK and are as likely to be of Indian, Sri Lankan, Bangladeshi descent.

SOME Brits are ignorant or deliberately racist - and some are both. The "it's no different from calling me a Brit" argument is nonsense. The Asian community have made it clear that they find this offensive, and everyone knows this. If you know a group find a nickname offensive and you keep using it, it can only be to cause offence.

Using the word paki is like an ephithet..an abusive word knowing well that being called a paki..in that tone.. is deliberately derogatory and intending to hurt and cause a rise in anger; a definite attempt to instigate an angry response. An Indian would definitey hate to be called a paki ..of all relative terms a paki?? the Brit knows it well. they are experts at divide & rule, hitting below belt and more. So the word paki is used, synomymous with similar words of distaste.

I even have many in many class. Many asians actually everyone seems to be very demanding worker and that they artwork very demanding because of the fact they desire to do some thing for his or her u . s . a .. At college point and faculty point, they're smarter yet afterwards, the human beings rule the area. Their u . s . a . continues to be springing up because of the fact their international places are very youthful, like 50-60 years old on a similar time as the US is greater effective than 2 hundred years old. the place grow to be US after the 1st 50 years of its independance. Many asian, esp. south asian mom and dad positioned a number of stress on their young babies to tug severe grades. they are not smarter, they artwork very demanding. it extremely is merely their background and the sentiments they have for his or her u . s . a .. they're very patriotic and all and that they desire to do somth for his or her u . s . a . or a minimum of their mom and dad lead them to care.

"Most Brits" most certainly do not call all Asians 'pakis'. Indeed, "Most Brits" would not dream of calling even Asians of Pakistani origin 'paki'. That term is offensive not only to Asians but also to Brits of non Asian descent.

A small minority of ignorant bigoted individuals do use this term sadly, but by accusing the majority of us that have more sense of doing so you are only demonstrating your own ignorance and prejudice, I'm sorry to say.

I have only personally heard this term used once 'in anger' (it did used to crop up in 'jokes' though I have to say I haven't heard it lately) and that was by a Hindu woman with whom I used to work referring to a Muslim guy who was my close colleague and friend who had told me that he liked her and asked me to test the water for him. I was horrified by her response and needless to say I only told him that she didn't seem very interested.
