if you want to tune for speed, uncle fester is right. If you want to keep it running, you will need to:
change spark plugs
change or clean air filter
change oil and oil filter
check brakes, tire pressure
check fork pressure and oil
set intake and exhaust valve clearances
check idle speed
synchronize carburetors
Most of this stuff you can do yourself, with common tools except for the carb sync. You will get to know your bike better and save money too. You will need a good shop manual.

Change air filter for freer flowing filter like K & N

On bike with carburettors change jets & needles to improve fuelling

On bikes with fuel injection fit power commander or similar to improve fuelling.

Fit ignition advancer

Bigger coils for bigger sparks

Different carbs - flatslides are good

Have engine "blueprinted" ie taken apart & put back together with minute attention to detail

Have engine "rebored" to accept bigger pistons increasing engine capacity. Also change crank, conrods cams & valves while your at it

Fit turbo kit

Fit nitrous injection
