Usually people who ask how you're doing hope you're doing ok, sometimes because they really care, sometimes because they really don't want to hear anybody else's problems.

You can usually spot that type coming. When they say See you later
you have to keep from saying "not if I see YOU first"

Now I'm getting all Bob Dylan, bless his nasty little darkside heart. He never had a nice thing to say to anybody.
But his "how does it feel" song says a lot.

I do that at work because I just don't feel comfortable talking to those people about my life; it's a rumor mill in there, they like to gossip, and I'd rather not have them talking about me behind my back there. "I'm fine" is a standard that comes out of my mouth there....maybe someday I'll find a place to work where I feel more comfortable.....

Sure, to the people I know would feel hurt if they knew how I really felt, (like my mom), and to people I don't know that well.
(Luckily I've got two friends who I feel free to be honest with, and of course they can feel "free" to tell me anything as well)

Last time was..let me think..last Friday, in town, to my mom.
