winter pansies?

Question

will they flower again,or should I just dig them up,and replant new plants,

just wanted to say thanks to everyonew that answered,they have already flowered,not sure about if they have seeded or not,but will replant them in another part of the garden and see what happens,thanks you all so much for your advice

Some will die, but most likely some will survive the winter. I find that pansies seed themselves really well, and I get lots of baby pansies in the spring.

If you want really lush growth, though, it's best to dig them up and start with new plants. It takes a little while for the babies to get established. Another thing you can do is watch for the babies, and transplant them to pots, and grow them in an out-of-the-way place. When they are big enough, plant them where you'd like for summer and fall bloom.

If they've seeded they wont flower again. To keep them flowering you need to take the dead heads off when the flower is dying. Personally I find winter pansies a bit of a bother because they need full sunshine a lot of the day or else the flowers just stop... Also they are a bit fragile for winter weather. I find primroses last longer if you need a bit of colour.

I always leave them in, not only can they produce flowers for a long time but if you leave some of the flowers to seeds you will then get lots of new plants.

Pansies are cool weather plants. Bloom in spring and fall, fade during heat of summer. Heavy feeders, can be fertilized weekly. Dead head to encourage more blooms or allow some to go to seed for sprouting later.

Keep removing the dead heads and they'll flower again. If you get long runners from them, layer them down with soil on top to tidy them up and also get new ones. If you throw earth among pansies, they love it!
