My husband recently got a job where he gets covered in grease. Anyway, the washing machine is turning black. Any good cleaner for grease? Anything that will clean the washing machine? I don't want to goto the laundry mat to wash his work clothes, yet it's a new machine!

Wash his cloths in Dawn dish soap.
My husband works offshore drilling and he has so much grease and oil in his cloths when he comes home after being out 2 weeks.
It will also help if you hang his soiled clothes outside as long as possible before washing.
Any type of degreaser will work in the machine on his cloths. Mean Green, 409, Dawn dish soap is great, I use it all the time.

Good Luck

A strong degreaser can help the machine, and try presoaking your husband's clothes. I worked on carnival rides for many years, and my clothes picked up a lot of grease and hydraulic
fluid. Now don't laugh, but I used a can of Coca Cola and the
regular amount of laundry soap to wash my clothes and it really helped to break down the grease. I think it was the carbolic acid in the coke.

You might try adding washing soda to the wash. I'd throw a cupful in with the clothes and wash them at a higher temperature say 60oC or higher and see how it goes.
The soda should actually chemically react with the grease and turn it into a water soluble soap.
