The Native Americans did not consider themselves "American" they were not a part of the USA(sidebar-US gov't made treaties with the tribes as they would with a foreign gov't) Also, american indians actually migrated from Russia, a very long time ago...Therefore, I don't think that you could say that they were "true americans." Please take Davy off of your list, to the best of my knowledge he was not native american!!

Good question. I love the American tendency to rush in a 'liberate' other countries but the fact is that the Native American Indians are, effectively, prisoners in their own land, living in marked out boundaries (sorry, they call it reservations) and with lesser rights. This is an oppression of indigenous people and if it happened in another land, America would be the first to rush in waving the liberation flag!

Davey Crockett was not a native american, he was of Scots-Irish decent, and so was Buffalo Bill Cody.
I was born here. What am I supposed to feel like? A Frenchman?

I lived close to a community American Reservation for a strong area of my existence and that i'll in my opinion say that reservations do way extra damage than strong. They set area of the human beings aside and cause them to diverse. as well to, the natives in my college often were given particular treatment via what their ancestors had to go with the help of. for this reason you get a foul element of the pop. without ambition or force to prevail. They sit on their asses and not in any respect go away the res at the same time as accumulating fed, state, and local money for free and then have the nerve to whinge about how the "white guy" stole their land. we are able to not in any respect have equality with those human beings if we enable them to seperate themselves.

America was not called America until the white Europeans came.... And even native Americans originally came from somewhere else, they simply got here years before the white man did........
So in truth - there is no true native Americans - because all of our ancestors came from some other continent..
Lets learn from the past - not dwell over it and bash it out

Actually, that's not true at all. Indians are not "native americans" since they too crossed the Alaskan Land Bridge and came over from Asia. Not only that, but they call themselves "the people."
American's is a title that came SOLELY from the ACT of NAMING the New Land, The United States of America after Amerigo Vespucci, therefore, since he was of European heritage, it would be most likely that the people who came from this "new world" would be called, Americans', AFTER HIM.

American is a culture, which many Native Americans don't fully practice. Its not based on national origin, but a state of mind. Not stating one is superior than the other. The name of our culture is sort of a misrepresentation though. Think of it this way Australians has there culture and the aborigines has theres too. To a proud Native AMerica, this is not america. I don't know what they call it in their native language.
