Time passes and those whom butts we did save are passing away... It's a new world out there - and we must admit that the U.S.A. and other countries have changed directions also....
Instead we could ask why would we Americans slag off France when they helped save our own butts before.......Or do you think we became free without help from another country?

British people do not generally slag off the Yanks as most think they are OK. Personally I love the US, and it's the narrow minded, idiotic, ill informed immature fools that make the US as a whole look bad.
It is true that the wars would have been more difficult without the help of the US, but you'd have a better argument if the Yanks had have come into each war when it started, rather than halfway through and the hard work was done.
By the way the US was built on other nations money including Britain so your, rather short, history is entwined with a lot of Europe's.
Lucky the US doesn't need Britain and her armed forces in Iraq, otherwise you really would look like a fool.
By the way, please learn to differentiate between their and there before posting daft questions. You dafty.. A great example of the American schooling system.

Thanks for pointing that out. It isn't often an American reminds us just how you saved our sorry arses in two world wars.
It was kind of you to declare war on Germany on 6th April 1917, a mere 3 years after the start of the war, and you were a great help finishing off the Germans.
And when Germany declared war on USA (in an attempt to persuade the Japanese to attack USSR), it was then good of you to join the Second World War, only 2 years late, this time. Ignorant Brits will tell you that American troops fought bravely alongside British and Commonwealth troops at Normandy and that their contribution to the success of D-Day was invaluable. But you all know that the Brits just made the tea, while the Canadians stood around talking about ice-hockey.
Our worry in UK is that having been late for two world wars, you're going to make a special effort to be early for the Third!

From what I gather, America joined World War II very late to save their own backsides after pearl harbour. If they we're doing it out of neighbourly kindness something tells me it would of happened in 1939. I think at one point our country had to beg you.
At least when Poland got invaded we didn't hesitate in trying to help immediately. We also did it quietly without bragging (that is what geniune altruism is. It doesnt irritate or make people say "they are being saved, because we're wonderful").
The majority of English people I know do not have a problem with the U.S., they have a problem with George Bush and the war. And this includes Tony Blair (who's English). They actually love visiting the country and have plenty of American friends. Its just the politics.
And are Americans really loving towards the English? Number one, it was you posting this email critisising us and dragging this subject out of the stoneage ,and number two, the vast majority of Hollywood productions out there (minus Starwars and Lord of the rings) cast an English person as the baddie, the stupid person or patronisingly quaint. If they are portrayed as credible people they have "seen the light", moved the US and rejecting the UK because it makes your viewing audiences feel better about themselves. There was even that movie with Mark Walberg in that claimed America cracked the Nazi communication codes, when it was actually the British Enigma computer in England by English people. They self-admittedly rewrote history to please US audiences and justified it.
That does not feel good for English people.
The only thing that gets peoples backs up is bombastic emails like this where America thinks they saved the world because they're amazing. Its patronising, distorts history - and more than anything else, get over it. It was fifty something years ago

The British do not hate the Americans, I always go on holiday to America because it is such a great country. in fact I think that Britain should join with the ex common wealth countries and get the hell out of Europe because the British do not benefit from being part of Europe. Britain has been invade by eastern Europeans and we do not benefit from them being part of Europe, but they benefit like hell form us. All the British people I know would like to work and live in countries like America, Canada, Australia and New Zea-land but we can't, we can work in Europe instead and no one is interested in working in these countries. This is another bad thing about Blair wanting us to stay in Europe when Britain could do much better if they aliened to the common wealth countries instead.

Oh, here is a man from the Ben Affleck school of history. The Americans did not 'save our bacon' twice - try reading a book.
Anyway, if we slag you off, it's got sod all to do with the first and second world wars - it has a lot more to do with your foreign policy nowadays ... and the way that you shout in restaurants.

'Brits' is a stereotypical remark. You are classing 'Brits' as the whole of the UK? That is wrong. I think most people from the UK have no issues with America. Some, like with opeople of all countries do not. That could be said also vice versa; as in I'm sure some Americans do not like the UK. A country with such a strong military & political influence is sure to upset some people......such is life!

World War 2 was not just about saving the Brits asses.
Hitler had already rampaged through northern Europe to eliminate the Jews, and with horrific results.
Had Hitler succeeded, the Global consequences would have been catastrophic.
And by the way, you didn't join the war for altruistic motives, you were there because you realised your economy would suffer if Hitler succeeded.
Americans have never helped out another nation unless there was something in it for them.
Can I also point out that America is the only country to drop the Nuclear Bomb on another, and yet you bang on about Nuclear threat. What a bunch of greedy hypocrites you are.
Go suck my fat c*ock, you t*osser.

just because you have met or heard a few Brits be nasty about your country you assume all Brits hate USA. That's a very narrow minded view you have. I happen to like the USA and have holidayed there and have family who live in Texas. so stop thinking we are all like that cos we are not. OK
