You can always get a free yahoo website. It allows you to use Page Maker, if you're not the html type. You can use html coding with the free webpages, but once you do, you can no longer access Page Maker.

The easiest and the fastest way to create a free website as of now is using the Google page creator.
Go to www.pages.google.com (You need to have a google account for this) You don't need to know html to make the website.
Google provides drag and drop functionality. And you can preview the changes that you make. Its really cool, you SHOULD check it out.
Yahoo also allows free website hosting through www.geocities.yahoo.com. However you should know html in this case.
Other than this, there are plenty of websites which offer free hosting. Just do a web search to find them.
If you want to make a really professional website then you can use any of the various HTML /Web editors available.
HTH :)

well there's a difference. you see, those with an address like www.(example).com is usually a paid service. if you want free, you have to sign up with those offering free web space like yahoo-geocities.
to create a webpage, you need to learn html (which is fairly easy) but there are programs/software that enable you to create by dragging and dropping and using not much codes (like Microsoft Front Page).

Go to http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/officelive/FX101534261033.aspx There you will be able to have free hosting, and a free domain of your choice. (like www.MyName.com) It is free as I said.
I prefer to use http://www.OpenOffive.org HTML editor. Also you can use almost any modern word processor to create web pages. If you can create a flyer you can create a basic web page.
