There's a code on the bottom of the lock. A locksmith can retrieve the combination, using that code. You'll need to prove or convince the person that the lock belongs to you, before that information could be revealed.

I think any three number combination is probably valid, so it migh take awhile, as there are 40*40*40 = 64000 posibilities. However, if you try all of the 40*40 = 1600 posibilities for the first two numbers then it is not to hard to turn the dial slowly and pull constantly to look for the third number.

In addition, I have heard that some locks will open even if you are one off on each of the numbers. If that is the case then you would only have to try every third number: 0, 3, 6, ...39, so there would be only 14*14 = 196 posibilities for the first two numbers. So you might be able to open your lock with an exhaustive search.

Good luck!

Well, I may very well be incorrect, but I think the number of possible three-number combinations from zero to 40 would be 40 raised to the third power, which is 40 x 40 x 40 = 64,000.

Years ago you could send the serial number of your lock to the manufacturer and, for a fee and presumably some questioning, they'd send you back the combination. Other than that, I believe you're out of luck.

You might wish to consider that fact that any other arrangement would pretty much defeat the purpose of your lock.

Ah, to be young again...

Normally a lock has 10 numbers (0,1,2...,9)
It depends of how many number are in your code .If it has 4 numbers the possibilities would be

Comb. of 10 taken by 4 * Permutation of 4=

=10*9*8*7=5040 if the order of the numbers matters or 210 if the order doesn´t matter

hahahaha there are too many and you need three variations of the possibilities applied in the correct sequence. trust me you dont have enough time between now and the end of your life to try them all. just buy another lock and use a hacksaw on this one. hahaha sorry, im not being mean, but theres no better answer.

I agree with the other posts. The best thing would be is to call maintenance and have them come with bolt cutters to take out the lock. Next time keep your combination written somewhere at home.....

You realize that if this were compared to a state lottery then your odds are even worst because numbers can be used more than one time.
