I live in the Middle East and there is a prominent belief here that cat hair can somehow lodge in the female reproductive organs and cause infertility. I think it's a bunch of hogwash, but some doctors here even say this. What do you think? I would love to hear some professional opinions!

It is a bunch of hogwash like you say. How in the heck could a cat hair ever get into a female's reproductive organs anyway?

The cat hair and infertility part is complete nonsense, but there are some related issues.

Pregnant women should never change the cat's litter box due to the risk of toxoplasmosis that can affect the baby's development.

Cats should never be left in the same room as a sleeping baby because they've been known to curl up on top of the nice warm infant to sleep themselves...suffocating the baby in the process.

My own superstition, also complete nonsense, is that single women who want to marry should never keep cats because they will become territorial and chase men away!

I think women with fertility problems should read my articles linked to below and try those tips, rather than getting rid of the family pet!

I think it's just a myth. Although, cats are know to subject to carry Toxoplasmosis. It's the only concern I have found about having cats while TTC. I have 4 cats, but I am very careful about not letting my wife change the litter.

I have 9 cats and I am VERY fertile. It's hogwash! Cat hair causing infertilty? That's funny.
