I'm doing an RE project on spirituality and i have 2 ideas of how i can represent how i see the spirit in the modern world through art.
Idea 1) Theres this really neglected poor sullen looking person in a cage or cell. Its really distraught screaming and crying and trying to get free. It is a representation about how if some people dont let their spirit free and to be their real selves their spirit becomes neglected weak and close to dying.
Idea 2)Theres a face with a mask on but its either beggining to slip or the person is taking it off and underneath is this really really beautiful girl. It is supposed to represent that whatever a person is or looks like on the surface if you look beneath the mask you might find something beautiful.
constructive critisicsm and additional ideas are welcome. I really need your help! thanx in advance.

I really like the second one. I have seen something similar to this one when I did ceramics. I wouldn't have the person take off the mask because it confuses it a little. Either have the mask coming off by itself or have someone else taking the mask off because they are the ones who are looking at the inner beauty

I am partial to idea 2 and feel that it is a far easier idea to represent through art (leaving some room for interpretation, but getting your point across). I like idea 1 as well, but would use the tragic caged figure in a different way. I would let it represent the spirit that is struggling to be free but is imprisoned by the breakneck pace of modern life, the impersonal touch of technology, the air-brushed beauty myth, etc. The cage itself could be constructed of these spirit-breaking realities of modern human existence. .

Idea 1 : maybe you think about "The Shout" by Gustav Munch.
Very good choice !
Idea 2 : we all wear a mask, to be less vulnerable to other people. In psychology it is called "persona". I think people ARE their own persona's (trying not to act is acting too!).

The 2nd one. Definitely. The girl should be very pretty and the mask should be very ugly.
