Honestly I think staying the course at this point is going to hurt the Republicans chances of winning the next election. Many people disagree with the war and what is going on that staying the course will probably put a Democrat in office 2008.

If that is the reason Bush is "staying the course" in Iraq, it isn't a very informed decision. The Republicans lost Congress in the midterm elections because of The White House Foreign Policy in Iraq.
I think he is staying in Iraq because he is too proud and arrogant to admit he made a mistake.

No, he is not trying to give Republicans a better chance in the next election.

He is intent on trying to get Iraq set up into a peaceful country, yet people are too stubborn to realize what could happen if we pulled the plug on the war right off the bat (back to square 1 people).

If he was, though, he is sure failing at it.

No way. Too many people are against the war and trying to keep it going is not the wy to get the people on your side. The reason President Bush is stayingthe course is because he truly believe what he is doing is best. I happen to believe that running away from a problem is not the answer. Too many of our media personalities and liberal politicans (i.e. Democrats) are like ostriches. They would rather stick their head in the sand and pretend that the problem does not exist. We have had far too many politicans in the office of President who governed by opoular opinion. We have had very very few who have had the fortitude to stand by their beliefs. Too many people in this nation seem to want to blame the President, whoever it is at the time, for any and all problems that exist. I hate to say it, but in our society we have to have someone to blame for our own failings. President Bush did not get us into this war by himself. Congress unamiously voted to go to war. Now the majority of them deny having ever supported the war. I do not now, nor have I ever had respect for any individual who isn't willing to stand by their decisions whether their decision is right or wrong. I have to say this, the greatest majority of our congressmen and senators need to be removed from office. I say this because if they truly believe they were lied to by President Bush, then they are guilty of not doing their jobs. I don't know of any reasonably sane person who makes major decisions without looking at the facts for themselves, not just on the word of another person.

The GOP lost the last election because he stayed the course, so how could it help them win the next?? He's doing it because he's to stupid to figure out a better plan. Although it may simply be the best plan for continued financial gains for himself and croniess alike.

i do no longer think of so. asserting is hasn't helped is probable a sarcasm. I do think of it must be a blessing in cover. Now GOP candiates that disagree with a number of the GOPs regular platform (i'm staring at you Rudy), and be vocal against it, and form of blame it on Bush. additionally, the incontrovertible fact that not one of the innovations-blowing condentders (i'm counting McCain using fact i think of he's complete) are at the instant in politics and the a number of the 2nd tier applicants that have been at the instant in politics we no longer in national government positions(Huckabee). so they could relatively distance themselves from the president on the grounds that they in no way voted for something the president did. Guiliani replaced into Mayor and hasn't been in politics on the grounds that, Romney replaced into governor, and Thompson hasn't been a senator on the grounds that issues went south. That is going a protracted way interior the final elections while Guiliani or Romney can say they in no way voted for the conflict, mutually as Clinton did. that's elementary to split your self out of your social gathering's management once you're no longer in contact. i think of congresses low approval scores in the event that they carry till next 365 days will harm those in congress greater, and Clinton or Obama fall into that catagory, Edwards does not yet he probable won't bypass them. Low congressional scores are what harm the republicans in 'ninety six, they took over the two properties in 'ninety 4 while Clinton and the dems have been unpopular, yet they did no longer something, the country blamed congress and re-elected Clinton, I see something comparable probable going on now.

The President is keeping our Brave Soldiers, in harm's way. so we won't be attacked, over here. Don't give in to this Political Backstabbing. It's either over here. Or over there. My President has the right idea. And one that he's stayed with, since 9/11. Oh yeah! I know you haven't forgotten about 9/11.

Yes. And we're going to invade Iran because Halliburton will save money if we don't expand the "war on terror".
