My stupid roommate (one of them) is making the house smell like pot. Should I call the cops?

Smoking marijuana is a difficult habit to break if your roommate is a habitual user. Calling or even threatening to call the police may not yeild the results you are looking to achieve. The police may not even come out to your house. Your roommate may need to be a dealer to get thier attention. Short of that probably would be a waste of thier time.

I think moving into a better environment would be far better than murder. What do your other roommates think of this persons marijauna smoking? Maybe a concensus can be struck to kick the person out if the activity is not immediately halted.

If the cops get a warrant and search your house and find your roommate's pot they will arrest you just like they'd arrest you if it were your own. However, if you call and tell the cops that your roommate is in possession of an illegal substance then you won't get it pinned on you.

You could eliminate this problem by moving... or evicting your room-mate.
If you do contact the police, You should go to the police station and make your complaint, you wouldn't be in any trouble for that, and they would probably thank you.
If you kill him... you will have to deal with the cops when they find the body.... so take the path of least resistance.

Don't call the cops, that would just be bad. You have to live with this person. Try getting a fan and some good air fresheners. Try Oust it works great ( I used to live with a bunch of pot heads)
Also, look on your lease their probably is a provision in there about drug use. If you have to, tell the land lord and see if you can't get him kicked out. Other wise just try to get a new place asap before you get in trouble for his problems... good luck

If your landlord did find out, you all take the chance of eviction. That stays on your credit report for a long time. Getting someone to rent to you after an eviction is almost impossible.

From a public safety officer's point of veiw--calling us most likely won't help you. If the lease is in your name--evict your room-mate and get another, and stipulate the(No pot) rules to your new roomie. I have been in the same situation--I moved!
