<>Maybe some kind of Turbo Diesel?

PS: Definitely turbo diesel, although I can't find what the "J" stands for; it's listed as a "common rail turbo diesel" engine in the Fiat Ducato.

Jtd is the terminology Fiat uses for its common-rail diesel engines.
I think the J stands for "Jet" - the newer versions of the system with multiple injections per combustion event are referred to as "multijet". The td is simply turbo diesel.

JTD is the name Fiat gives to its diesel engines, and actually they're very good diesel engines.

Alfa Romeo also uses the JTD system. TD stands for turbo diesel, whilst the J is a dirt particulate filter to reduce emissions.
