The other major university besides SFU and UBC is UVIC in Victoria (on Vancouver Island) a 1.5 hour ferry ride from Vancouver. You can take a bus from Vancouver onto the ferry and another bus from the ferry to the University.

There's also Trinity Western (a christian university) in Abbotsford 40 mins from Vancouver and University College of the Fraser Valley which is about an hours drive from Vancouver. You'd need a car to get to those.

There's tons of colleges ie Capilano College, Qwantlan College, Langara College, Douglas College to name a few. There's also Emily Carr school of art. All these are accessible on public transit.

Vancouver Area has a decent public transportation system, so if you were to attend school in Vancouver, where ever you decided to go, you would be able to get back and forth okay, or try to live on or near campus.

Besides the ones you mentioned in Vancouver,
There is also BCIT (BC institute of Technology) in Vancouver, and numerous smaller colleges, such as Emily Carr School of the Arts, so it all depends on what you are looking for.

Also, I want to echo what the previous answerer said about colleges in Bellingham, there are several, all with good reps. Of course, if you are Canadian, that would entail more paperwork.
