Parker is a way out suburb, a horrible hour-long drive to downtown in rush hour. If you're young and single, you don't want to live there. Check out downtown Denver, or a popular new development, Stapleton, in east Denver, with lots of choices in types of homes or apartments.

Parkert is great. It's in the southermost part of town and its a pretty fancy suburb so it may be a bit more expensive and a bit too far out for you--especially if you'll be working downtown. If you're planning on working in the Tech Center then you may want to look at Centennial and Littleton. I absolutely love Littleton and Lakewood--two southwestern suburbs closer to town--which are also more affordable.

The actual city of Denver is kind of lame but the suburbs are excellent. While Denver itself is good for singles it is quite expensive and dangerous. The 'burbs are close to the mountains and very safe. You mentioned that you are single. That's fine but I will forewarn you that Denver is more a place for families than single folks. That's not to say that you won't find a spouse but Denver is not as good for singles as, say, LA or New York. Just keep that in mind.

I think you'll really love it here if you know what to expect. Realize that Denver is a pretty midwestern place with the timeless ethos of faith, family, and hard work. It's a conservative place but also very welcoming. Don't expect a raging cosmopolitan scene. A lot of people think it's pretty boring here. The truth is that this is mainly a good place to raise kids. A good moral atmosphere and good schools--also lots of good jobs.

Welcome to Denver and I hope you like it here.

Denver and metro Denver is great. Moved to Colorado 15 years ago from Jersey. Didn't know anything about it either. Best move I ever made. We. live in Castle Rock, 30 min. south of Denver .Parker is not an hours drive from Denver only about 30 min., but is a family type town but many singles too.It all depends on where you will work, There are many nice places to live in the surrounding town of Denver.with good public transportation.

Parker is not what you are looking for!

The young adults in Denver live and play mostly close to downtown. I would suggest one of the following areas:

Capitol Hill
Washington Park
Highlands
Lodo
City Park
Uptown

Email me with more details about what you want in a neighborhood, and I can help you out.

Just for the record, I DO live in Denver. South City Park.

Good luck!

Denver is great but has East Coast style rush hour traffic. You'll want to live close to where you work.

That said, downtown Denver is booming with residential development. Lofts, condos, etc. In areas with restaurants, shops, night life. One area is called Lodo, another the Central Platte Valley.

it depends on how much you are willing to spend on rent. I would say live near downtown or LoDo if you can. There is a great nightlife there.
There are a lot of cheap apartments in Capital Hill but it can be a little scary for someone new to the city.

Parker is good & now close to light rail so access to downtown is easy. Centennial, Greenwood Village & Englewood are good too & south. Certain parts of Highlands Ranch are a bit yuppy & young. Good Luck!

Denver is an awful city and the people there are weird I think it's due to lack of oxygen that high up makes people a little freaky you should move closer to the ocean
