Wow... well done to that guy who said squid are fish. Couldn't be more wrong though.
Squid are certainly NOT fish - they are molluscs like their brothers the octopuses and their couisins the snails and slugs.
Mollusca is a phylum within Animalia - so all types of fish as well are Molluscs are animals. Look in to classification, its actually a fascinating subject in itself.

Fish are animals.
Now for squids--they are grouped as follows:
Kingdom: Animal
Phylum: Mollusk
Order: Cephalopoda
Fish with a backbone are grouped as:
Kingdom: Animal
Phylum: Chordata
Order: Pices

Fish are animals, hon.
Air breathers are mammals. Dolphins and whales are mammals, just like us.
Cephalopods (which include the squid, octopus and cuttlefish) are not technically considered fish by many scientists but for general purposes like aquariums, they are grouped in with fish.

Animals.
Cephalopods yes, but animals. Strictly according to your question.
Fish have scales, and gills.
They are characterised by that.
By this logic, again whales and dolphins are animals.
Just like birds have feathers and a beak.
Insects have an exoskeleton, and humans are also animals btw.:)
