Jimmy Page and John Bonham both thought that this album was too "soft" for a Zeppelin album and planned to release a "harder" one soon. Sadly, because of Bonham's death, this never happened.

"South Bound Saurez" and "All My Love" were the only two Led Zeppelin songs which Jimmy Page had no part in writing.

"In Through the Out Door" is kind of their softest album, still rocks though.
You could say CODA was the hard album to make up for "...Out Door." "Wearing and Tearing" alone definitely picks up any "soft" slack.
