By the standards of most western countries, the videotaping and publication of Saddam's execution is wrong on many levels. By Middle-Eastern standards, it is business as usual. Public executions ar pretty common in Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan etc. After what they have been through in the last 20 years, most Iraqis probably aren't too squeamish about death. It was a sordid, sloppy execution, and a gruesome few minutes of vid, but little more than a paper-cut on the gaping wound that is much of the middle east.
Also, the dissemination of the "unapproved" video provides proof, in a society that subsists on rumor, that Saddam will not be coming back EVER.

No matter what Saddam deserved or didn't deserve, his execution was conducted more like a lyching than a sentence by a government of laws. His brother's hanging last week was even more brutal. The rope length and drop were set up so that he was beheaded and blood spewed all over. This is just a preview of how the Shiite controlled Iraqi government will operate once the US troops leave: it will be a "Reign of Terror".

Whether or not its a violation, it is illegal in Iraq to videotape the execution. They should be punished. However, so should the Internet sites that showed it. They knew it was illegal and yet they still showed it. Freedom of Speech and Freedom of Press does not pertain to illegal acts. If I videotaped a man raping a young girl, I am committing the illegal acts of accessory to a criminal act, accessory to rape, and child pornography. Would uTube or whomever else show that?

No, i thought it was pretty cool, i liked watching that S.O.B. hang. Personally i want to see the official video, but I wish to thank the people for filming it. I didn't know we should be concerned about Saddam's human rights considering he didn't care much about anyone else's human rights himself.

Yes, they should be dealt with. Cameras were forbidden and they were snuck in. The cameras were contraband in the first place and they caused a lot of hurt for some people. It was morally wrong to do and they should be punished.

I do believe that they shouldn't have videotaped it because i do believe that it's violating human rights but people do get curious and this person obviously wanted to show the world.

Consider that video was not made here. The U.S. does not have the authority to make that decision.
